Pine’s Cal Byerley is set to team up with some of the UK’s best chefs at this year’s Great Chefs Dinner – which will take place on Wednesday December 4 at the Guildhall in the City of London.
On the night, up to 400 guests will be treated to a four-course menu prepared by five of the UK’s most celebrated chefs as they cook for one night only to help raise money for Childline.
Creating this year’s feast are Cal, Adam Handling (owner of the Adam Handling collection), Chet Sharma from Restaurant Bibi, Robert Thompson from RT Café Grill, and James and Georgia Sommerin from Home at Penarth.
The evening will be hosted by Ollie Lloyd and includes an opening performance from Capital Children’s Choir, while Antiques Road Trip’s Charlie Ross will host an auction.
The money raised throughout the night will help fund the NSPCC’s Childline service – a safe, confidential place for children with no one else to turn to, whatever their worries, whenever they need help. Children can contact Childline 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
A spokesperson from the NSPCC special events team said: “We are thrilled to celebrate the 13th year of our annual charity dinner, which has become a vital part of our mission to protect children and prevent abuse. We’d like to thank our dedicated supporters whose generosity helps us create safer futures for young people.”
Cal, Restaurant Pine’s chef-owner, said: “I’m always proud to be involved with events like this. Being able to support Childline and help raise funds to help them continue to deliver their free and confidential services helping children and young people is a fantastic thing to be involved with and I’m thrilled to be able to do a little bit to help.”
Childline has been supporting children and young people for more than 35 years. There were more than 200,000 Childline counselling sessions with children and young people last year, with a child contacting Childline every 25 seconds on average.
The 2023 Great Chefs Dinner raised more than £300,000, enough to fund nine days of Childline services.
