UK’s best recognised in 2021 Estrella Damm Awards

The UK’s most celebrated chefs and restaurateurs have been recognised in the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards 2021.

Newcastle’s Michelin-starred House of Tides placed fourth in the UK, while Hjem in Northumberland was ranked 25th. Meanwhile, The Raby Hunt featured in 55th place in the top 100.

The awards, which are based on the votes of 200 of the UK’s most respected chefs, restaurateurs and food journalists, placed two Michelin-starred Moor Hall, headed by Mark Birchall, in the top spot for the second year running. In second and third position were The Angel at Hetton and Core by Clare Smyth.

Meanwhile, Tom Kerridge received the outstanding industry contribution award and Tommy Banks was named restaurateur of the year.
Andrew Wong was named chef of the year, Daniel Humm’s Davies and Brook restaurant at Claridge’s received the service award and Tom Booton, head chef of The Grill at The Dorchester was named this year’s Chef to Watch.
