Kenny Atkinson’s two Newcastle city-centre restaurants celebrated retaining their Michelin Stars at the 2026 Michelin Guide Ceremony.

House of Tides, first awarded a star in 2015, marked its 12th consecutive year holding the accolade; while sister restaurant Solstice, first recognised in 2024, celebrated retaining its Michelin Star for a fourth year in a row.

The announcement was made at the Michelin Guide Ceremony, held at the Convention Centre Dublin, where chefs and hospitality professionals from across the UK and Ireland gathered to celebrate this year’s Michelin Stars, Michelin Green Stars, and a range of Special Awards – including the Service Award, Sommelier Award, Exceptional Cocktails Award, Opening of the Year, and Young Chef Award.

During the ceremony, a total of 20 new Michelin one-star awards were announced, alongside seven new Michelin Green Stars, and two new two-star awards – as all 10 three-star restaurants retained their awards. A further 37 Bib Gourmand restaurants were revealed online in the week leading up to the Dublin event.

At the heart of both of his restaurants is Kenny’s produce-led cooking philosophy, championing exceptional local ingredients delivered with clarity, precision and creativity, while allowing each restaurant to retain a distinct identity and style.

At Solstice, the dinner tasting menu features standout dishes such as smoked eel with Oscietra caviar, chicken skin and 36-month-aged Parmesan; lobster tail with carrot, vanilla and grapefruit; Craster kipper with pink fir potato and smoked caviar; oxtail with mushroom, duck liver and truffle; and desserts including Pink Lady apple with goat’s yoghurt, ginger and rosemary; and 80% Valrhona chocolate with banana, miso and macadamia.

Meanwhile, House of Tides showcases refined, seasonal cooking through dishes such as cod’s roe tart with smoked bacon and chive; Highland haggis with smoked potato and swede; line-caught mackerel with Jerusalem artichoke, apple and horseradish; and Yorkshire salt-aged lamb with turnips, mint and black garlic. Alongside its tasting menu, the restaurant offers a popular lunch menu, fixed-price and vegetarian options, and a Sunday Feast.

Kenny – chef-owner of Solstice and House of Tides – said: “To see House of Tides retain its Michelin Star for a 12th consecutive year is something I’m enormously proud of. That level of consistency only comes from relentless attention to detail and the commitment of a team that really cares about what they do. Equally, for Solstice to retain its star for a fourth year is hugely rewarding and reflects how confidently the restaurant has found its stride under Scott’s leadership. Both teams should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved; these awards belong to them. To see Newcastle represented so strongly on the Michelin map is something I’m genuinely grateful for.”
