Leading restaurants across the North East have retaining their listings in the Michelin Guide for 2026.
As well as the Michelin-starred venues in our region – Pine, House of Tides and Solstice – there is Bib Gourmand recognition for Broad Chare in Newcastle. Meanwhile, sister restaurant 21 has retained its listing – as have Osters, Lovage, Rebel, and Cook House. In Northumberland, Alnwick’s Sonnet is recognised with a listing; while in Durham, Coarse and Faru are also given listings.
The Michelin Guide is published annually following reviews by anonymous inspectors, who judge venues against five key criteria – the quality of ingredients, mastery of flavour and cooking techniques, the chef’s personality as expressed through the cuisine, value for money, and consistency over time.
Osters and Lovage head chef Kleo Tabaku – who leads the business alongside his partner, Lisa Hide – said: “We never rest on our laurels, and we work very hard to ensure that every single customer at each restaurant has the finest food, service and experience possible. The Michelin Guide is the gold standard in our industry and for both our restaurants to retain their listings – especially in such challenging times – is a great vote of confidence, in us and in our customers.”
