Zaap set to launch Durham restaurant

Thai street food restaurant Zaap will open its doors at The Riverwalk in Durham on September 26.

To celebrate, Zaap is offering the first 100 diners through the door the chance to get their hands on two of the restaurant’s most popular dishes for just £5. The team will be dishing out their classic Pad Thai and a selection of vibrant curry dishes for just a fiver to celebrate the opening day. The £5 giveaway will start at noon and the first 100 diners will also get their hands on a free Zaap goodie bag. There will also be free scratchcards on offer, with prizes ranging from starters to other tasty treats.

Zaap Durham will be one of the brand’s largest locations to-date, with room for up to 120 guests inside the Bangkok-inspired venue along with 20 seats on the outdoor terrace.

Inspired by the bustling street food markets of Bangkok, there are more than 80 traditional dishes on the menu – from Pad Thai and Gang Massaman (Massaman Curry) to grilled whole sea bass with special Zaap sauce, Thai papaya salads, dim sum, bao buns, platters, curries and more.

Founder and executive chef Ban Kaewkraikhot said: “Durham is a fantastic city, and we’re thrilled to open our doors on September 26 to welcome the people of Durham to Zaap. We’ve designed everything to transport our guests to the bustling streets of Bangkok. From the authentic menu to the vibrant decor, we’ve worked hard to create something unique. We’re very excited to celebrate opening day and share the Zaap experience as well as lots of goodies. We can’t wait to welcome Durham to our Zaap-y family!”
