Mother Mercy unveils new cocktail bar in Fenwick

Mother Mercy – one of the Top 50 Cocktail Bars in the UK – has opened a new bar within Fenwick in the heart of Newcastle.

Praised for cocktails made with innovative ingredients – including rare and vintage spirits, exotic botanicals and hand-crafted infusions – Mother Mercy will offer a bespoke selection of drinks exclusive to Fenwick shoppers at the new venue.

Located adjacent to Mulberry and COS on Level 1 (Womenswear) of the department store, the new bar extends Mother Mercy’s successful partnership with Fenwick and builds on its pop-up on the lower ground floor since December 2022.

Having launched its original basement bar on Cloth Market in 2019, Mother Mercy now has four permanent venues across the North East – within Fenwick, at Cloth Market, Café Mercy on Grey Street, and within Sheepfolds Stables in Sunderland.

The Mother Mercy Fenwick drinks menu includes a selection of Champagne cocktails made with the Telmont Reserve Brut; a Rare & Vintage Collection from Mother Mercy’s private collection; the world-famous Macallan spirit served in exclusive Lalique crystal glassware; Mother Mercy classic cocktails; and a selection of wine, beer, cider, spirits and soft drinks.

In addition to its signature cocktails, Mother Mercy Fenwick will offer a take on afternoon tea with Cocktails and Cake pairing free-flowing teapots of cocktails with a serving of prosecco and cakes from Mason + Rye at Fenwick. Cocktails and Cake is served Monday-Friday, noon-3.30pm and Sunday 11am-3pm, and is priced at £25 per person.

“This opening presents an incredible opportunity for us to showcase our expertise alongside many iconic fashion brands,” said Mother Mercy co-founder Neil Donachie. “Our presence in Fenwick allows us to continue showcasing the incredible talent of our team in an iconic setting. Being situated adjacent to Mulberry and opposite COS aligns perfectly with our brand. We look forward to welcoming familiar faces and new guests to enjoy our exceptional, table-service cocktails, as well as our Cocktails and Cake experience.”

Amy Byers, Fenwick restaurant operations manager, added: “We’re excited to continue our collaboration with Mother Mercy as we integrate their cocktail bar into our first-floor fashion mix.
Mother Mercy has quickly become a favourite among our customers, offering the ideal spot to unwind with expertly crafted drinks before or after shopping. The addition enhances the Fenwick experience, perfectly complementing our fashion offering and ensuring each visit is even more enjoyable and memorable.”
