The Lord Crewe Arms, Blanchland has launched a new take on afternoon tea inspired by one of England’s finest 20th Century poets, Wystan Hugh Auden.
Auden had a lifelong love of the North Pennines and said of Blanchland, “No other spot brings me sweeter memories.”
Along with Champagne, Auden’s preferred drink, guests can enjoy Storm Tea from the Newcastle-based tea merchant as part of the new experience. There’s also a selection of finger sandwiches, buttermilk scones with strawberry and rhubarb jam and clotted cream, and sweet treats – from battenburg cake to raspberry macarons, opera gateau and lemon meringue pie.
Auden’s Afternoon Tea is £24 per person and can be booked Monday-Saturday 2.15-4.30pm.
