Tynemouth Castle Inn set so open this autumn

An iconic Tyneside venue will welcome its first guests for nearly three years this autumn as The Inn Collection Group opens bookings for The Tynemouth Castle Inn.

Formerly The Park Hotel, the 90-year-old venue is undergoing major refurbishment by the Newcastle-based pub with rooms operator, which acquired the site in April 2021.

Expected to be completed in September, The Tynemouth Castle Inn is accepting bookings for stays from October 1, with its owners eager to start hosting guests following a multi-million-pound redevelopment project.

Converting the venue from its previous hotel-style offering, The Tynemouth Castle Inn is undergoing a total transformation which once complete will create a welcoming pub with 72 bedrooms.

The pub side of the business will be open all day, every day and will serve delicious food and well-kept drinks, starting with breakfast in the morning and through to a menu packed with pub classics through to 9pm.

Making the most of the natural splendour afforded by the commanding position on the Grand Parade, 20 of the rooms will boast their own terrace or balcony, while 57 afford a coastal view.

Once reopen to visitors, guests staying in the opening months will be able to enjoy the menu on offer at The Tynemouth Castle Inn as part of the Welcome INN promotion running at sites returning from refurbishment. Available on direct bookings, guests have a dinner allowance included in the price of their booking so they can enjoy pub classics created on-site.

Kate Bentley, rooms director at The Inn Collection Group, said: “We know that there is a lot of interest in The Tynemouth Castle Inn and people are eager to see it reopen, so we’re delighted to have opened bookings for its first stays. We’re creating something that we’re confident people are going to love, whether they are visitors staying with us or just coming to join us for food or drinks and we can’t wait until the site is back to welcoming people through its doors. Its position over Longsands beach is breath-taking and its history within the community is rich and long and we’re expecting this to be one of our most popular sites once the works are completed.”

Applications are also open for a host of key positions at the venue, including a new general manager and head chef. A new entry on The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list, roles at The Inn Collection Group offer competitive salaries, an attractive benefits package and a commitment to developing employees across its range of roles. With an advertised wage of £48,000 per annum, the successful GM applicant will ensure exceptional levels of guest satisfaction, have direct line responsibility for the senior team of assistant managers, head chef and head housekeeper and oversee the commercial performance of the venue. Applications close on Friday July 7.
