The Hawk restaurant and farm shop set to reopen

Destination restaurant and farm shop The Hawk in Ponteland is set to reopen at the end of March – with a refined concept celebrating Northumberland’s food heritage, local producers, and countryside hospitality.

With 68 covers and the creation of 25 new jobs, the reopening marks an exciting new chapter for the venue. Reopening with a new team and under new management, The Hawk will offer an upgraded guest experience, refreshed spaces, and a focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.

Local provenance will be at the heart of the food offering, with the team working closely with Northumberland suppliers for meats, cheeses and seasonal produce.

“Reopening The Hawk is about celebrating Northumberland on the plate,” said head chef Anthony Archer. “We’re working closely with local farmers and producers to build a menu around seasonal ingredients that are full of flavour and integrity. For us, it’s about respecting great produce, keeping things honest, and giving guests food that feels both refined and comforting at the same time.”

Complementing the menu, The Hawk will launch with an updated and upgraded wine selection. The drinks offering will also include local ales, Guinness on tap, and seasonal serves.

Alongside the dining spaces, The Hawk will offer a welcoming bar area – featuring TV sport, electronic darts, and a programme of live music.

The extensive outdoor area is being redesigned too – and will be unveiled in full this summer. Planned features include an upgraded outdoor space with fire pits and festoon lighting; a stretch teepee available for exclusive hire for up to 50 guests; converted container kitchens hosting guest chefs on rotation with different streetfood themes throughout the season; and a converted vintage Citroën van serving Catch Fish & Chips.

Alongside the restaurant, The Hawk’s farm shop will offer a curated selection of Northumberland produce and artisan goods, including local cheeses, meats and seasonal finds, plus Hawkstone lager and selected Diddly Squat products. The shop will also feature lifestyle products from independent brands across Northumberland, celebrating the region’s makers, craft and heritage beyond food and drink.

The Hawk will also offer upgraded bedrooms for overnight stays, and a programme of events throughout the year.
