The Autumn 2025 edition of Appetite is out now

Appetite issue 82 cover

The Autumn 2025 edition of Appetite is available in all our favourite foodie places now

The Autumn 2025 edition of Appetite is packed with seasonal flavours, places to visit, and ways to make the most of season across the region and at home.

Our team has been out and about putting together Take 5, while Laura Middleton and Daisy Turnell have enjoyed exploring too – as you’ll read in their columns. There are also more brilliant books picked out by Helen Stanton, the latest from Ann Paton’s garden, and a fantastic column from Linda Lee – who has been trying to get to grips with a vast amount of blackberries.

Mushrooms are an absolute must in so many autumn dishes, and Zoe Robertson has been out to meet the man behind the fabulous fungi in some of the region’s best restaurants – Matthew Hall from By The Bay Mushroom Co. Zoe has also been along to the brilliant Rosewood and Lovaine community shelf, and explored the benefits of local coffee shops as places to find community in our increasingly fast-paced and, at times, isolated modern lives.

We also have a new columnist to introduce you to. Chris Coulter, the man behind Belly Of The Beast, will be choosing his favourite condiments and showcasing how he puts them to use.

Meanwhile, David Harker has delved into the winemaking traditions of orange wines, and picked out five bottles to try this autumn, while Bob Arora shares another dish from his kitchen in his latest recipe column.

We also have our autumn Kitchen Kit selections, plus a Special Focus on Newcastle’s Grainger Market, the Last Word with SIX Rooftop’s Greg Lambert, and competitions from 1610 at The Globe Inn and The Battlesteads.

Enjoy this edition, and all the flavours of autumn.
