Michelin unveils 2023 star ratings for five of the region’s best restaurants

The region’s best restaurants have been recognised by Michelin for 2023.

Among the restaurants included in the annual list are the two-star Raby Hunt in Summerhouse; Northumberland’s Hjem and Pine – which also retained its green star rating; and Newcastle’s House of Tides, all of which retained their ratings from 2022. Meanwhile, Kenny Atkinson’s second Newcastle venue – Solstice – received its first one-star rating.

A total of 20 new one-star awards were presented in the guide, four new Michelin green stars and three new two-star awards. While Michelin now updates its listings monthly, the publishing of the annual list is still a huge highlight in the food calendar.

A total of 188 restaurants in the UK hold at least one Michelin Star. There are 160 one-star restaurants, 20 two-star restaurants and just eight three-star restaurants in the UK.
