Entries open for North East Chef of the Year 2023

Entries are now open for talented chefs looking to showcase their skills at this year’s NECTA Hospitality Salon and compete for the North East Chef of the Year title.

Judges will select six chefs from the entry list, who will compete on Thursday May 4 at Crowne Plaza Newcastle. Following a three-course signature round, three chefs will go forward to compete using a mystery box of produce from the North East larder to earn the coveted title.

As well as being named champion, the winner will get the chance to experience dinner, bed and breakfast at the region’s only two Michelin Star restaurant – The Raby Hunt.

James Close, chef patron at The Raby Hunt, said: “As a two Michelin Star restaurant here in the North East, our long term success is dependent upon nurturing a culture of culinary excellence among our chefs and emerging hospitality talent across the region. It’s our job to set the standards and inspire. We are delighted to be supporting this year’s North East Chef of The Year competition and look forward to welcoming the winner and their guest to an evening at The Raby Hunt, where we will take them through our own gastronomic journey.”
