Grainger Delivery launches Christmas hampers spin-off

Grainger Delivery launches Christmas hampers spin-off

Grainger Delivery, which was created to support the many small businesses of Newcastle’s Grainger Market during the Covid 19 Pandemic with an online delivery service, has launched a new hamper brand ahead of the festive season.

In just nine months, Grainger Delivery has blossomed from a ‘fifth emergency service’ – which saw taxi drivers, traffic wardens, NE1 staff along with volunteers pack and deliver Grainger Market produce to more than 30,000 people across the region, into something more akin to a mini version of Amazon.

The website now brings together more than 25 small businesses from the 185-year-old Grainger Market and you can buy your weekly shop, Christmas gifts, hampers and more online – and receive it all with next day delivery, six days a week.

Founded by Emma-Claude Phillips, of The French Oven, with support from North East-based international creative agency Niltoni 360º; the family-led business has fast become a champion for local small businesses, brands and many artisan creatives and suppliers.

Ahead of its first festive season, Grainger Delivery has created a range of hampers under new brand Phillips & Wilde. Each hamper is a celebration of local artisanal produce, featuring everything from Fat Lass Preserves to Davenport’s Chocolates, and Northumbrian Smokehouse to Proof of the Pudding’s multi-award-winning Christmas Puddings – along with many other amazing producers.

“It’s been a challenging year and we all need something special as we approach Christmas, so partnering with our great friend, actor and foodie Craig Wilde, alongside our delicatessen brand Northern Delicious, we decided to create a series of hampers, packed with local produce, designed to celebrate our local producers and bring a little magic to the festivities,” said Darren Phillips, operations director at Grainger Delivery.

Grainger Delivery has also launched its Christmas commercial – filmed on location in the banqueting hall of Blackfriars in Newcastle. With Santa and two rising stars – cousins Noa and Harris – playing Santas’ little helpers, the magical Miracle on 34th Street-inspired advert celebrates the quality products and range of the Grainger Market shops on Grainger Delivery.
