Food and Drink North East launches State of the Sector survey

Food and Drink North East (FADNE) has launched its State of the Sector survey – which plays a vital role in providing a farm to fork snapshot of the region’s agriculture, food, drink, manufacturing and hospitality supply chain.

Those who contribute to the food, drink and hospitality sectors in the North East can respond to the survey by clicking here.

Chris Jewitt – CEO and founder of Food and Drink North East – said: “Our State of the Sector survey delves into the challenges facing our industries, identifies gaps in support, and highlights the wants and needs of businesses across the industry. By gathering critical insights, the survey helps to build a clearer picture of what is required to create a more resilient and sustainable food economy in the North East of England.

“At a time when we’re facing unprecedented challenges like rising food poverty, food waste, and the urgent need for cohesive public health and food strategies, the findings from this survey not only amplify the voices of local producers, manufacturers, and hospitality businesses but also serve as a road-map for policymakers and stakeholders to drive meaningful, long-term change across the region.

“As FADNE looks forward to an important and big year in 2026, we will continue to work and lobby hard in order to provide the insights, forge the connections and create the right opportunities that help our network thrive, as well as remaining committed to fighting for regional and national repre-sentation that truly reflects the vital role of food in our economy, education, culture, and the shap-ing of public health in the North East.”
