First four chefs announced for ThirdBite charity fundraiser

The team behind Northumberland’s Restaurant Pine has announced the first four chefs who will cook at ThirdBite – the third instalment of charity fundraiser BiteBack, in support of Cancer Research UK.

Taking place on Sunday July 19 at Wylam Brewery’s Palace of Arts in Newcastle, the one-day festival will once again bring together some of the UK’s most celebrated chefs for a celebration of food, creativity and community.

The first four chefs confirmed for this year’s lineup are – Lisa Goodwin-Allen from the Michelin-starred Northcote in Langho; Paul Leonard from Michelin-starred and Michelin Green-starred Forest Side in Grasmere; Stuart Ralston from the one Michelin-starred Lyla in Edinburgh; and James Knappett of the two Michelin-starred Kitchen Table in Fitzrovia, London.

Since its inception, BiteBack has raised just under £200,000 for Cancer Research UK. The Restaurant Pine team behind the event is determined to make this year’s event the biggest and best yet, and is aiming to surpass last year’s fundraising total of nearly £117,000.

As in previous years, ThirdBite will challenge chefs to step outside their comfort zone, giving food lovers the chance to experience a more relaxed side of some of the UK’s leading culinary talent. Each dish will offer an insight into what makes the individual chefs tick, blending personality and imagination with creativity, skill and outstanding ingredients.

This year, 20 chefs will each serve 500 portions of their take on streetfood, creating an unmissable one-day celebration of flavour and creativity. With only 500 portions available per chef, guests are encouraged to plan ahead and secure their tokens early to avoid missing out.

Entry to the event is free and dish tokens – priced at £10 each – will only be available to purchase in advance.

Alongside the stellar chef lineup and Wylam Brewery’s drinks offering, a selection of local DJs will provide entertainment throughout the day. The online auction will also return this year, featuring an exciting range of foodie experiences and prizes. Businesses interested in donating auction prizes should contact Siân Byerley at sian@restaurantpine.co.uk

All proceeds from ThirdBite will be donated to Cancer Research UK – supporting more than 4,000 researchers, clinicians and nurses working to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and to bring hope to millions of people now and in the future.

Siân, co-owner of Restaurant Pine, said: “Last year, SecondBite was incredible and raised a huge amount of money for Cancer Research UK. We’re determined to go one better for ThirdBite. We’ve called in a few favours to bring a stellar lineup to Wylam Brewery and help us raise as much as possible in the fight against cancer. We’d love you to join us on July 19, make a real difference, and enjoy some amazing food along the way.”
