This month, our health columnist Nik Imrye extols the virtues of cider vinegar:
[line_list]
- It’s good for alkalising the body, so regular consumption helps regulate your pH level
- It can help to moderate insulin and glucose levels, and assist sufferers of type 2 diabetes
- It’s a digestive aid, helping to enable the breakdown of fat, which in turn aids the liver and kidneys
- It can help to balance oily skin and reduce acne scarring
- For your whiter teeth, dilute with water and use occasionally as a mouth rinse
- To boost energy, add some to your glass of fruit juice in the morning
- For a detox, add 1 cup to your bath along with 1 cup Epsom salts and 5-10 drops of essential oils. Adding sea salt, ginger and baking soda are also great options for further detoxification and relaxation
- For weight loss, it suppresses the appetite and reduces water retention. Take ½ tbsp in some fresh lemon water every morning or before meals
- Take 2/3 tbsp 3 times a day to tackle gout
- For dandruff, mix equal parts water/vinegar in a spray bottle and spray on hair after shampoo, leave for 15 mins, then rinse. Repeat for a few days until problem disappears and repeat weekly
