Alex Walker, chef de partie at the legendary 21 on Newcastle’s Quayside, has been named North East Young Chef of the Year. Alex, 24, impressed judges with his pork with chicken, sage and onion mousseline and black pudding fritter and his iced vanilla parfait with poached pear, salted caramel and pear liqueur, beating six of the best young chefs from across the region in the final at St James’ Park.
