Vineyard72 opens in Whitley Bay

Vineyard72 has opened a second wine bar in the heart of Whitley Bay following the success of its first location in Tynemouth.

The new wine bar, on York Road in the heart of the town, is home to the same high-quality wine, spirits and sharing boards which have made the Tynemouth bar – inside Land of Green Ginger on Front Street – a hit since opening in 2020.

A global wine list is complemented by local spirits and a fine selection of cheese and charcuterie which brings together local and international flavours. Among the cheeses you’ll find smoked cheddar and stilton from Northumbrian Smokehouse in Wallsend served alongside chutneys from Woodcrest Kitchen in Burnopfield. You’ll also find Black Storm Brewery’s Blonde and Flash House Brewing Co’s Tiny Dancer IPA on the bar, plus St Mary’s Gin and Newcastle gins, and coffee from Tynemouth Coffee.

Owner Craig Miller said: “The response to our Whitley Bay opening has been fantastic. Whitley Bay has an exciting food and drink scene and adding a great wine bar to that mix has proved very popular. Our focus is very much on great wine with simple, high-quality food which complements it – all served in a relaxed space where you can unwind, drink and graze long into the evening.”
