Three top celebrity chefs have joined the line-up for this year’s Bishop Auckland Food Festival – which is set to take place April 23-24.
Strictly Come Dancing finalist and Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite will be joined by 2021 Bake Off favourite Crystelle Pereira, and vegan chef Matt Pritchard for Saturday’s chef demos in the Cookery Theatre.
They will be followed on Sunday by Michelin-starred chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, Bake Off contestant Chigs Parmar, and local favourite Mike Bartley.
Chef, author, content creator and TV presenter John won the third series of Bake Off and runs his own cookery school, John Whaite’s Kitchen, in Lancashire. He also appears twice weekly on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch and has published five books.
He will be joined by Crystelle, who has earned tens of thousands of followers since appearing in the latest series of Bake Off, and Matt – a vegan chef who swapped fronting MTV’s Dirty Sanchez for writing acclaimed cookbooks and hosting a BBC Wales TV series.
The Cookery Theatre, where each celebrity chef demonstration will take place, will be located off North Bondgate in Bishop Auckland town centre. All guests are free to watch, and the schedules will be available soon on the food festival’s social media and website.
