The Summer 2025 edition of Appetite is available in all our favourite foodie places now
The Summer 2025 edition of Appetite is packed with summer flavours, inspiration for outdoor cooking, and ways to make the most of the sunshine.
Our columnists have been making the most of the sunshine – not least Ann Paton, who has got so much produce coming out of her outdoor beds and polytunnels. Daisy Turnell and Laura Middleton have also been out and about a lot – and both share their travels in their columns. Meanwhile, Dave Coulson is enjoying the sunshine on his walks to work and the time to think is inspiring some wonder-ful cooking. On the cooking front, Bob Arora has another fantastic dish drawing on his wealth of ex-perience that we can all cook at home, while Linda Lee explores the underestimated lettuce in all its many forms. Helen Stanton has six books perfect for summer holidays and evenings in the sun at home, while David Harker explores the wines and food of Spain’s most popular holiday destinations.
We also have two fab features from Zoe Robertson to enjoy – starting with a visit to Mokka Café & Bakery in Heaton. Zoe also stepped into the Northern Rye bakery with the supremely talented Rob-bie Livingstone to talk about expansion, success, and how he developed his passion for sourdough.
We also have a brilliant, thought-provoking feature from FADNE CEO Chris Jewitt on the power of markets and how we can harness their potential as a region.
Add in an afternoon tea tour, Take 5, Kitchen Kit, a Last Word Q&A with Whitechurch’s Luke Cowell, summer salad recipes in The Low Down, and two fab competitions courtesy of our friends at Eshott Hall and Lumley Castle, and there’s plenty to see you into the autumn.
