The Blackbird, at Ponteland, is getting ready to reopen on April 12 with three outdoor tipis serving pub favourites, street food, vegan options and Sunday roasts.
Artisan bakery Kennedy and Rhind will continue selling its popular baked goods from its pop-up shop in one of the pub’s smaller tipis on a Saturday mornings and customers will still be able to order takeaway food for collection throughout the week.
For light bites, starters include superfood salad, charred sea trout and king prawn tempura, while crispy beef and vegetable noodle boxes are also on offer. Mains range from slow roast pork belly, pan roast salmon and leek and mushroom tarte tatin to Moroccan lamb flat bread and the pub’s popular 28-day aged local beef. Sandwiches, burgers and bao buns have also made it onto the new menu, along with desserts including iced popcorn parfait, sticky toffee pudding and strawberry and vanilla millefeuille.
Those wishing to dine in the outdoor tipi restaurant must book in advance by calling 01661 822684 between 10am and 1pm daily, with a £10 deposit per person to secure a booking. The pub also has an expansive, uncovered outdoor seating area for drinkers and diners which will be available on a first come, first served basis.
