Undoubtedly one of the finest cookshops in the North East of England, this delightful shop is home to quality goods for home cooking, baking, cake decorating and so much more. Local makers and producers are stocked alongside national names; while you’ll also find lots of storage options, gadgets, giftware, homeware and hardware. Halcyon House Café
Having opened up in Market Place earlier this year, Halcyon House Café has already won an enviable reputation. Run by Jessie Blanchard and her partner Andy Walker, the former home of Cafe No 6 has been transformed, with the two-storey space welcoming guests for coffee, cakes and lunches Monday-Saturday 8.30am-4pm. The menu features breakfast and light lunches, cakes and bakes alongside fabulous selections of local cheese, meat and bread. There’s also coffee from North Star Coffee Roasters in Leeds.
