Social Bird, a new contemporary restaurant, is set to open in Newcastle this spring.
The new venue on Fenkle Street, just off Westgate Road, is being billed as more than just a place to eat with a unique and lively atmosphere combined with a food and drink offering covering cosy coffees, quick lunches, sit-down dinners, and Friday night cocktails.
The menu will have a focus on chicken, specialising in chicken schnitzels and burgers sourced locally from Soanes Poultry, known for its commitment to sustainability and high animal welfare standards.
Designed by Ica, an architecture and interior design studio based in Glasgow, Social Bird’s interiors will draw inspiration from the city’s rich heritage, with elements such as the bar’s arched detailing inspired by the Tyne Bridge.
General manager Emma Thompson said: “We are thrilled to introduce Social Bird to Newcastle, bringing a place where every detail has been crafted to make you feel at home, and every bite is a culinary delight. Social Bird is set to become a vibrant part of our local community, offering a unique and inviting space. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to experience the great hospitality and unique charm of Social Bird.”
The team has also struck up partnerships with more local businesses – such as Tynemouth Coffee, Newcastle Gin, PureKnead, and Hadrian Border Brewery as it continues to develop the menu.
