Northumberland restaurant Pine has been included in the annual Opinionated About Dining (OAD) European restaurant list.
Pine was listed at number 195 out of 555 restaurants from across Europe.
Pine chef/owner Cal Byerley and front of house manager and co-owner Sian Byerley said: “2024 is turning out to be a good year. We raised a whopping £82,000 for Cancer Research UK with BiteBack; Vanessa, our head sommelier, has been listed among the top-100 sommeliers in the UK; and Pine was listed at number 12 in the Top 100 UK restaurants at the National Restaurant Awards. Now we’ve found out that we’re the top-ranked restaurant in the region in the OAD European dining list, which is a bit nuts.
“All of these successes are down to every single member of the team, and it’s their efforts day in and day out that bring rewards like these. We really can’t thank them all enough for what they do.”
The Opinionated About Dining list was created in 2004 by New York-based music business en-trepreneur Steve Plotnicki. It was originally designed to record his personal dining experiences, but he quickly realised that many other people were equally frustrated by the reliability of din-ing guides. In 2007, he set out to create a survey guide that others could easily contribute to, sending out an email survey to 175 people who wanted to contribute.
Over the last 17 years, OAD has evolved into an internationally respected dining guide, which is now informed by more than 6,000 foodies and destination diners who contribute some 200,000 reviews each year.
