Gosforth restaurant Ophelia has been named in the Michelin Guide within months of opening its doors.
Led by chef Nick Grieves, the French brasserie is listed by the international food guide, which commends Ophelia’s menu, cooking and wine list. It says: “There is a pleasing lack of over-complication to the food at this slick neighbourhood brasserie that wears its French heart on its sleeve. Great care is put into the cooking by an on-view kitchen team and the Gallic influence can be seen across the range of thoroughly enjoyable dishes, which are presented with a friendly smile. The French focus also extends to the low-intervention wine list.”
Nick, along with business partner Dan Smyth, have won high praise since launching Ophelia. Having left the construction industry, Nick moved into the kitchen and built his experience at internationally renowned restaurants including Fera and The River Café. He returned to his native Newcastle in 2016 to launch The Patricia in Jesmond and has since transformed a former cycling shop on Bowsden Terrace in Gosforth into Ophelia.
