Gosforth’s Ophelia and Jesmond’s Small Canteen and Long Friday have been included in Britain’s 100 Best Local Restaurants 2024 – a list complied by The Good Food Guide.
Members of the public nominated each of the 100 restaurants which feature in the list, submitting more than 60,000 nominations for their favourites. The tally was confirmed by inspectors from The Good Food Guide, who in turn visited each restaurant to determine which deserved a place in the final list.
Launched 14 years ago, the list is designed to celebrate the places that are central to the communities they serve – and recognises kitchens that offer creative, memorable dishes based on high-quality seasonal and local produce.
