Matfen Hall has appointed Ernst Van Zyl as its new head chef.
Ernst – who arrives in Northumberland having been head chef at the 3AA Rosette Isle of Eriska Hotel in Benderloch, Oban – will bring 25 years of experience to the team – including stages at some of the world’s most renowned restaurants, including Maaemo in Oslo; Restaurant Frantzen/Lindeberg in Sweden; Le Manoir Au Quat Saisons in Oxford; and Noma in Copenhagen.
