Whitley Bay café Meet Me on the Corner will celebrate its first birthday on May 1 with owners Kris and Laura Campbell hosting a big party to celebrate with live music, a barbecue, face painting and birthday cake.
Launched in 2022, the cosy café on Ilfracombe Gardens is run by chef Kris, who has more than 20 years of experience in the kitchen, and baker Laura. Together they cater to all tastes and dietary needs, offering vegan and gluten free options throughout their regular menu. They’ve also welcomed lots of North East celebrities in their first year – from Lindisfarne’s Ray Laidlaw to author Ann Cleeves and Robson Green.
“We are honestly blown away with what we have achieved within our first year, it is beyond anything we could have imagined,” said Laura. “The café has completely changed our lives, we have so much more time as a family as well as working on what we’ve always dreamt of. We couldn’t have done it without our fabulous team and I really want to give them a massive shout out because they all care about our business just as much as we do. Thank you to all of our lovely customers – regulars and new ones. Watch this space for more exciting things to come this summer.”
