Caribbean restaurant and bar group Turtle Bay has announced 38 new appointments at its soon-to-open Durham venue, including Ryan Sullivan as general manager.
The two-storey 4850sqft restaurant at The Riverwalk Durham is set to open in October, and plans to recruit a further 12 front of house roles.
Ryan, who moves to Durham following successful spells leading Turtle Bay restaurants in Leeds and York, said: “We are looking for people with a passion for great service and the communication skills to thrive in the fun environment we create at Turtle Bay. It’s all about celebrating a soulful, laid-back vibe, recreating this atmosphere and bringing ‘Caribbean good times’. Durham did not disappoint, we have recruited some outstanding people and we’re still looking for more.”
Turtle Bay operates more than 40 restaurants nationwide, including venues in Newcastle and Middlesbrough, and identifies new hospitality talent at fun audition days inspired by the spirit of the Caribbean. More than 200 job hopefuls took part in fun tasks, team building exercises, informal interviews and Dragon’s Den-style pitches over two auditions days at the Radisson Blu Hotel Durham earlier this month.
