Newcastle department store Fenwick is set to host to a pop-up by the Michelin-starred Hjem team from May 31.
Hjem will be in residency in the heart of the city for eight weeks, inviting diners to experience the award-winning cooking of Alex Nietosvuori and the team.
Founded Alex and his wife, Ally Thompson-Nietosvuori, Hjem’s blend of fresh North East produce and traditional Scandinavian cooking won it a Michelin star in 2021– making it the first Michelin-starred restaurant in Northumberland.
The menu at Fenwick will emphasise local and seasonal produce, but with a twist. There will also be a regularly updated tasting menu.
Signature Hjem dishes on the al a carte menu will include chicken liver parfait with brioche & Pedro Ximenez syrup, fried chicken with Kewpie mayo, and gougères filled with Doddington cheese cream. For dessert, you can enjoy a waffle sandwich with miso caramel, or fresh doughnuts with an espresso semi-freddo.
