Dot Bagels unveils Veganuary specials

Dot Bagels has created a range of new menu items for those taking part in Veganuary – or simply looking for something new this January.

The Chillingham Road-based business has created plant-based specials for each week of January.

The new options feature ingredients such as jackfruit and tofu, with the first special – The Fresh Prince of Portobell-Air – featuring sticky sriracha portobello mushrooms, a pickled carrot and mooli slaw, cucumber, spring onions, sesame seeds and vegan mayo.

The new additions will be available alongside the vegan options that are always on the menu – such as a plant-based version of a parmo; and Salt on Chilli Road, which can be created with fried vegan-style chicken, pickled sesame slaw, fried onion and gochujang mayo. Dot Bagels’ NFC – featuring Nashville Fried Chicken, hot sauce, slaw and gherkins – also has a vegan alternative.

Diners can also enjoy Downtown Clover – falafel, hummus, chopped salad, pickled cabbage and vegan mayo – and Banging Bhaji, which features an onion bhaji, garlic and mint sauce, pickled red onion and mango chutney.

Stuart Young, owner of Dot Bagels, said: “Veganuary has become huge and although we already offer a whole host of delicious vegan options on our regular menu, it is the perfect time of year to include some specials. It shows people that vegan food can be really tasty and imaginative, and hopefully it will encourage more people to give it a try.”
