Blackbird flies high with new summer menu

The Blackbird Inn has launched its summer menu, showcasing the tastes of the season and the skills which earned the Ponteland venue the Pub of the Year title at the North East England Tourism Awards.

The new menu focuses on seasonal favourites such as raspberries, strawberries, pak choi, heritage tomatoes and locally grown herbs.

The revamped starter menu features duck and pistachio terrine, asparagus and egg, and smoked haddock fishcakes.

Pub favourites such as the grilled Cajun chicken burger, the Blackbird beef burger, beer battered North Sea cod and pie of the day return to the menu, while new offerings include Asian crispy beef salad, potato and golden beetroot pave, slow-cooked pork belly and beef char sui noodles. Meanwhile, summer desserts focus on fruit with mandarin roulade, cherry parfait and berry Basque burnt cheesecake all starring.

Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan diners are all also catered for.
