Special Focus: Explore the Grainger Market

Newcastle’s historic Grainger Market is a magnet for foodies. Here, we check out four of the market’s unique spots…

North Shore Coffee

Founded by Toby Davison, North Shore has grown to become a reputable North East brand known for great coffee and hospitality. The Grainger Market location is the perfect spot for those looking for a quick grab-and-go or a respite from the bustle of the city centre. You can also find North Shore locations in Heaton, Gosforth, Longhorsley and most recently on St. Mary’s Terrace right next to the Newcastle University city campus. The coffee comes from their own roastery on Scotswood Road and is served alongside fresh bakes, pastries and toasties.

SnackWallah

Bringing the food of the streets of the Indian subcontinent to Newcastle’s Victorian covered market, SnackWallah serves a diverse menu of vegan dishes including a curry of the day that showcases a regional classic. Meanwhile, the bhaji wrap, samosa chaat and pakora
plate make fantastic alternatives to your standard lunch in town. A delicious chai, fresh fruit lassi or a nimbu pani completes a wonderful afternoon treat.
