No.32, a new pizza restaurant and cocktail bar at Riverside Sunderland, is set to officially open its doors on July 8.

Created by award-winning restaurateurs Tammer Hassan and Vittorio Farigu, No.32 is one of two venues the pair are opening on the ground floor of The Beam this year.

Vittorio and Tammer opened Vitto’s Osteria and Ember at Sheepfolds Stables in 2024, with both restaurants going on to earn national accolades. The restaurateurs are hoping No.32 will build on the success of their existing venues by offering something new for the city’s burgeoning hospitality sector.

Vittorio said: “We can’t wait to finally open our doors and welcome faces new and old to No.32. Since we first opened Ember and Vitto’s Osteria in 2024, we’ve been blown away by the reception we’ve received from residents and people visiting the city, and hopefully No.32 will prove just as popular.

“It will be an entirely new concept for the city, fusing our love for quality, hand-prepared food with a relaxed, bar-style vibe, while further building on the other developments going on around Riverside Sunderland.

“There is so much positive momentum being generated here, with new buildings and businesses popping up everywhere you look, and we are thrilled to be contributing to that. It really seems like a city on the up.”

Serving an array of handcrafted pizzas – with no boundaries on toppings, bar pineapple – cocktails and light bites, No.32 features elements of marble to bring in a touch of Ember and the colour palette has been chosen to reflect Vito’s Osteria. A disco ball-themed bar, mid-century furniture, and jazz and blues-inspired artwork and music have all been curated to foster an old school jazz and blues vibe.

Tammer added: “No.32 is very much a new-generation pizza and cocktail bar with a simple mission – to serve up seriously good pizza, bold cocktails, and the kind of atmosphere that turns a quick bite into an all-night plan.

“The mid-century décor takes inspiration from American jazz and blues, and we have low lighting and plants throughout, providing a space which is relaxed but refined – the perfect place for families to gather, friends to meet or to grab a drink. We are absolutely thrilled with how it has all come together and we hope our customers love it just as much as we do.”

Vittorio and Tammer’s expansion to The Beam has been supported by Sunderland City Council’s business investment team, who helped identify suitable space and have provided ongoing advice and guidance throughout the project. The letting was delivered by the Council’s property team, working alongside agents At Retail.
