¡VAMOS! Festival brings foodie events to Newcastle

Vamos

A Caribbean supper club, a Latino Food Social and curated international food stalls feature this year as part of ¡VAMOS! Festival, celebrating Latin culture across the city June 8-12. Here’s more…

Thursday June 9
The Caribbean supper club with Pulitzer Prizer winner Junot Díaz is first on the menu at Breeze Creatives, Abject Gallery inside of Barnburgh House. Students from Newcastle College will serve a Caribbean-themed menu for the supper club featuring jerk chicken and Caribbean rum cake and more.

Friday June 10
This year’s festival also features a ‘Friday Social’ with Food Newcastle at ¡VAMOS! Social. Food Social is the latest collaboration between ¡VAMOS! and Food Newcastle and the first in a series of monthly events which will be held at the festival’s cultural hub ¡VAMOS! Social. Festival director Nikolas Barrera said: “¡VAMOS! Social is the perfect space to informally come together, meet others engaged in food projects and share ideas. Not to mention sample the food offerings of new local food producers, processors and chefs. If nothing else, it will be tasty and offers a great alternative to typical restaurant dining.”

Saturday June 11
A family friendly daytime picnic on Saturday June 11 will also feature curated streetfood stalls, hand picked by Filipa – event organiser of ¡VAMOS! Festival.

Food is also available daily at ¡VAMOS! Social too, with a menu featuring bocadillos (Spanish sandwiches), charcuteria meat plates and sharing plates.

Tickets for all events are available to purchase from www.vamosfestival.com
