The Summer 2026 edition of Appetite is out now and it’s time to head outside, enjoy lighter, brighter food and savour the best of summer.
This edition is packed with things to make the most of the season – from places to visit for afternoon tea in our Special Focus to the pick of the season’s best produce.
For the Profile in this edition, Zoe Robertson shares the inspiring story of the West End Women and Girls Farm – where women are building community and creating a unique and powerful force for good.
Zoe has also been along to Whitley Bay’s latest addition, Flock, for Out and About. We have a super-summery Fab 5 too, plus David Harker has advice on perfect wines for picnics and shares top picks from some of the region’s leading experts.
Our columnists are all in great form as well. Ann Paton is incredibly busy with everything bursting into life in the garden, while Chris Coulter has created a new wholegrain beer mustard using Rigg & Furrow’s Run Hop Run. Meanwhile, Linda Lee shares what to do with chillies, Laura Capon has three places to check out this summer, Helen Stanton picks six books for summer reading, and Daisy Turnell shares what she’s been up to in her latest Beer Diary.
We also have a trip north to Dumfries, where Gary Ramsay enjoyed two unforgettable experiences at 1610 by Fraser Cameron and Annandale Distillery.
Add in lots of exciting news, Club offers, Kitchen Kit, a Last Word with Seaham Food Festival host Chris Bavin, and fantastic competitions from our friends at Dobson & Parnell and Hadrian’s Hotel, and there’s lots to enjoy in our summer edition.
