Something for the weekend – Seaham Food Festival – Aug 7-8

Seaham Food Festival returns to the County Durham coastline this weekend (August 7-8) and there’s a lot going on over the two days with celebrity chefs, street food, family entertainment, and more.

The free Durham County Council festival will bring together around 100 traders, demonstrations from TV chefs including Rosemary Shrager, John Whaite and Chris Baber, as well as a host of family entertainment.

Food Unwrapped presenter and baker Briony May Williams will join cooking stalwart Rosemary Shrager and Bake Off favourite John Whaite for the first day of the festival. Sunday’s crowds will then be entertained by the hugely successful chef and food writer, Maunika Gowardhan, and another star of the Great British Bake Off, Karen Wright, alongside TV chef Chris Baber. County Durham’s very own Masterchef contestant Mike Bartley will also be taking part in both Saturday and Sunday’s line-up, after being inspired to enter the competition on a visit to Bishop Auckland Food Festival.

The TV favourites will be joined by around 100 traders and producers offering great food to enjoy on the day and take home, plus lots of family-friendly activities and events over the course of the weekend with magical music, movement and lighting spectacular from The Spark!; high energy performances from Hannabiell & Midnight Blue; an invasion of giant birds and their riders from Les Oiseaux de Lux; creative workshops from The Barn and Creative Pop; and more.
