North East’s best included in La Liste Top 1,000

The region’s best restaurants have been included in La Liste’s Top 1,000 restaurants in the world for 2024.

A total of 78 UK restaurants are listed, with The Raby Hunt leading the way for the region with a score of 92.50 out of 100. Regional big hitters Pine (90.00), House of Tides (87.50) and Hjem (84.50) also feature in the list.

The list is led by seven restaurants with scores of 99.50 – including UK number one L’Enclume in the Lake District, with chef Simon Rogan becoming the first UK chef to be ranked at the top of the table.

La Liste was launched in 2015 and is designed to be the world’s most comprehensive guide to restaurants, examining more than 40,000 restaurants in more than 200 countries before each year’s list of the world’s top 1,000 is published.

Unlike the World’s 50 Best Restaurants or Michelin, La Liste uses an algorithm to determine the rankings of those that feature. The list factors in 200 international dining guides, crowd-sourced sites including TripAdvisor, plus reviews in the world’s press including the likes of Le Monde and the Washington Post. It also takes into account Gault & Millau, OpenTable, Michelin, and many more sources.
