While Wooler distillery Ad Gefrin’s core Northumbrian single malt is still maturing, head distiller Ben Murphy released the first of their Crǽft Series in July, bottling three single casks to reveal how it’s developing. Whisky connoisseurs were clearly on high alert, as the bottles sold out in four hours!
The distinctive bottles carried artwork designed by North East artists and the distillery are now on the lookout for local creatives to design the artwork for their next Crǽft Series launch, which it’s hoped will take place before the end of the year. Ben Murphy commented: “To be able to celebrate our unique and flavourful casks by also showcasing such talented artists underlines the art and craft of whisky making and the creative talent we have in the region. I’m really excited to select our next three casks and meet the artists who will bring their labels to life.”
