For a second consecutive year, Restaurant Pine in Northumberland was honoured at the Star Wine List of the Year Awards UK – receiving a Silver Star in the Sustainable Prize category.

The accolade celebrates the restaurant’s continued leadership in sustainability, recognising not only the strength of its wine list but also its wider environmental ethos, assessed against a rigorous set of criteria.

Pine – which has also been named among the top 10 most sustainable restaurants in England by the 360° Eat Guide – retained its Silver Star for 2026 having first received the honour in 2025.

The awards, now in their sixth year in the UK, took place on Monday March 23 with 66 finalists gathering at 1 Hotel Mayfair. Hosted by Star Wine List’s Liora Levi and Rachel Fellows, the event brought together some of the country’s leading wine professionals to reveal this year’s Gold and Silver Star recipients.

Insights from the judging panel – comprising leading international experts, including Masters of Wine and top sommeliers – highlighted the exceptional standard of entries. Judge Stephen Wong noted that the UK remains one of the hardest competitions to judge due to the calibre and diversity of wine programmes, with the strongest lists demonstrating not only technical expertise but also a clear, confident identity and a deep understanding of their audience.

This year’s 13 award categories included Best Austrian List, Best Spanish List, Best By-The-Glass List, and Best Medium List. Winners across 10 international categories will now go on to represent the UK at the Star Wine List of the Year Global Final 2026, which takes place in June in southern Sweden in association with Terra Skåne.

Pine’s restaurant manager and head sommelier, Vanessa Stoltz, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have retained our Silver Star in the Sustainable Prize category for a second year. It’s a real testament to the work the whole team puts into ensuring our wine list reflects the same sustainable ethos as our kitchen, and we’re delighted to see that commitment recognised once again on a national stage.”
