Yorkshire-based streetfood brand Clucking Oinks Fried Chicken has launched its first outlet in the North East at St. James’ STACK.
The brand has two outlets in York – which include a stall at an outdoor community hub and a standalone restaurant – having started out as a food truck a decade ago. Aiming to build on that success, the team has brought their unique range of fried chicken with a variety of seasonings to Newcastle.
Diners can enjoy the signature fried chicken served as a burger – with options such as the Rodeo, which comes with American cheese sauce, Asian barbeque sauce, crispy onions and bacon. There’s also Buffalo Blue with blue cheese slaw and buffalo hot sauce; and the Spice Bag Burger, which is accompanied by grilled pepper and onions, fries, curry sauce, sweet chilli sauce and spice bag seasoning.
The menu also includes chicken strips – again with different coatings – munchboxes and a number of side dishes such as deep-fried mozzarella sticks, mac ‘n cheese and a several varieties of fries.
Ben Copeland, area manager for Clucking Oinks, said: “We’ve been in our current location in York for seven years, since the day it opened. It remains massively popular and we’re excited to be replicating that here in the North East for the first time. We thought it was time to make the leap into starting to expand and when I was looking at possible outlets, I came across STACK and thought it was absolutely perfect for us. We are constantly evolving and developing our food and it’s very much a team effort. We can’t wait for people in the North East to try it for themselves.”
Gemma Dishman, project development director for STACK, added: “At STACK, we are always looking to bring in new streetfood which complements our existing traders and offers something new and exciting. It’s great news that Clucking Oinks has chosen us for their first move outside of their native Yorkshire and recognised the huge potential for them as a brand to be part of STACK. We are sure they will be a huge success.”
