Following the success of his first restaurant, The Patricia, chef Nick Grieves has launched a second site – Ophelia – as he looks expand his GRDY Restaurant Group.
Inspired by the success of The Patricia, Ophelia is a traditional French neighbourhood brasserie with a small, specially curated menu of classic dishes and expertly sourced local ingredients. Lindisfarne oysters share the menu alongside Ossetra Royal Caviar, while we can highly recommend the white onion soup and a divine Toulouse sausage with pomme purée and black truffle. Meanwhile, the wine list features natural and organic wines from across France, which can be enjoyed at the bar alongside a specially curated menu.
Nick, along with business partner Dan Smyth, hopes to open more new venues in the near future.
Having left the construction industry, Nick moved into the kitchen and built his experience at internationally renowned restaurants including Fera and The River Café. He returned to his native Newcastle in 2016 to launch The Patricia and has transformed a former cycling shop on Bowsden Terrace in Gosforth into Ophelia, with the 35-cover Cafeteria set to open next door in the spring.
