City Tavern in Newcastle is that rare thing – a proper pub with proper beer and proper food for foodies of all colours – omnivorous, veggie, vegan and all. We like the vegan gyoza – steamed Asian parcels filled with veg, tofu and soya mince served with soy dipping sauce and pickled ginger. Mind, the burgers are good too.
